Pastor Al Fuertes
Reverend Al Fuertes 

Reverend Al Fuertes is Wellspring's new covenant Pastor.

Al works in the field of conflict analysis and resolution, specializing in community-based collective trauma healing as a vital component in peace and community-building.  Al's interest is in the socio-cultural anthropological perspectives of the impact or effects of conflict and natural disasters on those affected and how people address the needs for both individual and collective healing through resiliency and other healing mechanisms.

Al does consulting work in different countries and travels intensively.  He works with government, religious, military and local community leaders in countries that he visits.  He connects with NGO workers and various sectors in places that he is invited to work. The title of his dissertation (Ph.D.) is, "Community-based Warviews, Resiliency and Healing Among the Internally Displaced Persons in Mindanao and the Karen Refugees on the Thai-Burmese border."    He has also served as a pastor in the Philippines.
 
Reverend Kendal BrownReverend Kendal Brown
 
Rev. Kendal N. Brown is a minister, writer, and musician.  A native of Danville, Virginia, Rev. Brown has served as minister of music at the Faith Community Church of Richmond, VA and as Associate Minister for Amistad UCC in Lanham, MD. 
 
In May of 2003, Rev. Brown moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he ultimately served as the Associate Pastor of Christian Education at City of Refuge UCC and also as the Associate Director of Admissions at the Pacific School of Religion.
 
In September of 2006, Rev Brown returned to Washington, DC to found City of Refuge ­Washington, DC, a radically inclusive congregation seeking to provide a progressive Christian voice in the nation’s capital.  In addition to his work as a pastor he also serves as the Associate Director of Admissions at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. 
Reverend Richard Thayer
 
Reverend Richard Thayer

Reverend Richard Thayer is pleased to return to serve as an occasional preacher for the Wellspring congregation, where he served as interim minister from 2000-2003.  Richard has served in ordained ministry for 25 years, from coast to coast, in campus, chaplaincy, and parish ministries, with an ecumenical focus and an interest in inclusivity.
 

 

Worship Leader Myra Colleen Flemister


Myra is an experienced leader of Bible studies and women's retreats, and also blesses Wellspring's worship with her gifts as a song leader.  When not leading worship, Myra works in publications, and has her own DJ business.  Her special ministries also include participation in the new City of Refuge congregation in Washington, D.C.
